Shortlist nomination for students of Games Studies

Three game developers from the Master’s degree programme in Games Studies and Engineering have been nominated among those shortlisted for the Pioneers of Game Development Austria’s Talent Award 2024.  One of the three developers, Mano Marichal from Belgium, revealed how this came about and what makes this Master’s degree programme so special when we interviewed him. Along with his colleagues Nikolay Markozov from Russia and Anja Kolundzija from Serbia, they are some of the most innovative young artists that have emerged from the University of Klagenfurt’s Games Studies and Engineering programme.

University of Klagenfurt receives over a million euros in funding for City Science Lab, supporting the capital Klagenfurt in its quest to become a climate-neutral city

Klagenfurt am Wörthersee is the only Austrian city to take part in the EU mission „100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities by 2030“. Numerous ambitious and financially intensive projects are being planned and implemented to help achieve the climate targets, from decarbonising the bus fleet to expanding the supply of green electricity. The University of Klagenfurt will support the city in its efforts to achieve climate neutrality by providing expertise from a wide range of disciplines in the social, cultural, economic and technical sciences. To this end, funding is being provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) to establish the „City Science Lab (University of Klagenfurt): Climate & Cities Missions in Action“. Funds totalling more than one million euros have now been approved.

Klagenfurt-Berlin Workshop on Multiple Perspectives in Optimization

Strengthening collaborations with highly renowend Universities is among the aims of the area of research strength MPOpt — Multiple Perspectives in Optimization. A workshop with researchers from TU Berlin, including the two Einstein Professors Martin Skutella and Peter Friz, took place in June at the University of Klagenfurt. Funding from MATH+, the Berlin Mathematics Research Center, made this workshop possible.
