Karl Karner casts his works in aluminium and in bronze with richly detailed motifs. The link to nature, and botany in particular, is evident. The fantastical, somewhat biomorphic motifs almost appear to come to life. Karner’s fictional worlds tell a story of recurring scenes from everyday life, albeit deconstructed in their function and with an irritating, deformed counter-world that reveals the absurdity of certain processes.

Karl Karner was born in Feldbach, Austria in 1973 and lives and works in Vienna and Styria. Karner is a trained foundry artist and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna under Heimo Zobernig.
