The university library supports free access to academic publications in the sense of open access, and enables members of general and academic staff at AAU to publish open access within the framework of selected publishing contracts.
With netlibrary, AAU’s institutional open access repository, we will soon be offering our users and interested members of the public free global full-text access to a number of selected publications by members of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt. In addition to open access publications by academics at AAU, you will also find theses written by students at AAU as well as open access journals and series of publications relating to AAU in netlibrary.

Starting with 2023 the university library is supporting the open access-publishing house Open Book Publishers.
The university library is also a supporting-partner of the project KOALA which aims at establishing Consortial Open Access Solutions
