Professional Experience

Matthias Wieser is Associate Professor at theDepartment of Media and Communications at the University of Klagenfurt (A). After studying Sociology, History and German Philology at the RWTH Aachen University (D), he received his MA in Cultural Studies from Goldsmiths College, Universityof London (UK) and his PhD in Sociology from the University of Klagenfurt. Before joining Klagenfurt in 2007 he was Lecturer in the Department of Sociology of RWTH Aachen University. Further he has been Visiting Fellow at the Mobile Media Lab, Concordia University Montreal in 2015 and at the Institute for Culture and Society, University of Western Sydney in 2016/17. His research focus is on cultural studies, science and technology studies, media studies as well ascultural and social theory.
