AAU card

The AAU.card is both your student ID card and the card that gives you access to a variety of university services. Your card has your name, date of birth and matriculation number on it.

If you have paid your student union and university fees, you can print the expiry date onto your card using the ID card printer (Verlängerungsdrucker) in front of the Admissions Office.

One of the main functions is access to university buildings: simply hold the AAU.card in front of the card reader next to or on the door and the door will open, provided you have access rights to the building/room.

24-hour library

Your AAU card gives all students 24-hour access to the library. You have to register for 24-hour access in the student portal under “Settings > 24-hour library”. Please register at least one day before you plan to use this service for the first time. Accounts are activated every day at midnight.

Printing & Copying services

You will also need your AAU card if you want to print, copy or scan something. You must first have loaded credit onto your print/copy account. After that you send the print command from an on-campus computer and can then print your document from any printer. If you have any problems or questions regarding the printing system, please contact the ZID ServiceDesk staff.

Special discount in the Mensa canteen

Since January 2024, anyone studying at the University of Klagenfurt who would like to eat in the Mensa canteen can benefit from a special discount of 1.50 euros for hot lunches and hot snacks in the Mensa canteen or the Mensa café in the Aula. To take advantage of the special discount, you must be registered as a student of the university with your AAU.card. Learn more
