New students

It’s natural to have a lot of questions when starting university. But don’t worry! There are plenty of places ready to offer help and advice. At the start of semester, the Austrian National Students’ Union runs (ÖH) runs welcome days and tutorials for students in their first semester. You can also get in touch with your student representative at any time. You will always receive advice from a student in a later semester who is familiar with your programme of study and who is equipped to give you some useful tips.

The Admissions and Examinations Office is here to support you from matriculation through to graduation. This office is responsible for admissions, recognition of qualifications, individual studies, entitlement to study and examinations in particular.

The programme directors (SPL) are responsible for issues relating to the organisation and governance of your programme. They decide whether examinations taken at another domestic or overseas institution can be recognised by AAU and also issue degree certificates. The programme director responsible for your programme of study can be found on this page under “Our degree programmes”; simply select the relevant subject.
