RESEARCH
Since 2016, the University of Klagenfurt has offered its early career researchers the opportunity every year to apply for the Young Scientists Mentoring Programme (YSM). In a competitive selection procedure, the University’s Research Council decides on the admission of the applicants to this one-to-one mentoring programme. For one year, the selected early career researchers enter into a mentoring agreement with an internationally recognised scholar from a foreign university (or research institution).
Target groups are high-performing doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers of all disciplines of the University of Klagenfurt who have reached an advanced stage of their research project (after approx. two years).
The mentoring programme fosters
- the intensive exchange concerning the current research project,
- the support in the planning and execution of concrete projects and career steps,
- the transfer of knowledge concerning structures, processes and the rules of the game within the sphere of international science,
- the early and deep integration into the scientific community,
- the establishment of new contacts and cooperation opportunities,
- participation in career-relevant workshops and coaching sessions as well as
- the exchange within the cohort.
