On Friday, 8 March 2019, the degree ceremony for graduates of the University of Klagenfurt takes place in the Hans-Romauch-Lecture Hall (Lecture Hall A).
Habilitation colloquium of Daniel Krenn
On January 25, 2019, the habilitation colloquium of Daniel Krenn took place. The talk titled
“Research in the spirit of analytic combinatorics explained on the example ʽQuicksort algorithmʼ”
revealed Daniel’s research endeavour and showed his technical proficiency and scientific maturity.
Daniel managed to explain key issues of his research so that it was accessible to the general audience, and at the same time he impressed the experts by his highly nontrivial and interesting work. The presentation was followed by a vivid discussion which covered theoretical issues along with algorithmic aspects all the way to purely didactical questions, for instance how to communicate complicated mathematical topics to children.
We wish Daniel Krenn all the best and many more results that advance the state-of-the-art in Analysis of Algorithms and Analytic Combinatorics!
Restructuring of the library’s staircase (no access to the periodicals reading room, February 2019 – March, 15)
We have just been informed that restructuring of the library’s staircase is about to start.
Background: we want to reduce the noise on Level 2 to minimalize disturbance in the reading rooms.
After restructuring, all users will be able to access Level 3 without crossing the reading rooms.
At the same time, the fire doors’ mechanism will be adapted to reduce automatic opening.
For this reason, there is no access to the periodicals reading room from 04.02.2019 until Mar, 15!
This means that as of Monday, 04.02., there is no access to the tables, shelves and the media library in this reading room!
Please use other reading rooms during this time!
* All users can “order” and pick up any items located in the periodicals reading room at the loan desk.
* Daily newspapers can be found on Level 2 in the new building (“Cube”).
We hope that this measure affects you only marginally and rely, as always, on your underestanding.

As usual, we offer students and external users the possibility to take out several open-shelf books for a longer period:
- from Wednesday, Jan 30, 2019
- you can take out up to 6 open-shelf books,
- until Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at the latest
