ICS – Keynote & Paper Presentation – FSDE 2020

From 25th – 27th November the  “International Conference on Future Data and Security Engineering (FDSE)” has taken place.

The conference was hosted by the  Quy Nhon University, Binh Dinh, Vietnam. Because of the Covid 19 pandemic it was organized as online conference.

O.Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Johann Eder was invited to talk as one of the Keynote-Speakers about “Data Quality for Medical Data Lakelands”.

“The Internet has given us new narrative stages.”

Stories have been told throughout the existence of humankind. While audiences were somewhat limited until the 2000s, thanks to the Internet, virtually the whole world is now available to practically anyone as a potential listener. In her research, Christina Schachtner, professor emeritus at the Department of Media and Communication Studies at the University of Klagenfurt, is particularly interested in the “narrative subject”. Now, her book bearing the same title has been published as an open access book in the English language. In an interview with her, we discuss the tragedies and comedies that are performed in virtual space.

The “Europa-Preis” of the Federal State of Carinthia goes to Birgit Moser-Plautz

Mrs. Moser-Plautz completed her doctoral thesis with distinction at the AAU in 2019. Now she also convinced a four-member jury of the “Europa-Preis” of the Federal State of Carinthia with her thesis titled “Public Budgeting Reform – Increasing flexibility & strengthening control at central government level”. She received the prize, endowed with 1,500 euros, for her academic work on November 20th, 2020. The award ceremony will take place in 2021.

Our Institute has a new predoc scientist

Cornelia Klein joined our team on August 3rd, 2020. She finished her bachelor’s and master’s degree in “Business Administration – General Management” with a strong specialization in “Public Management” at the Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt. Her main interest of study is the impact measurement in public and non-profit organizations, where she especially focuses on Social Return Analysis. Our department welcomes her as our new predoc scientist.
