Passion for language and culture

Ateesha Sethia’s decision to study in Klagenfurt was a thoughtful one. After all, the student of English and American Studies and International Management, has been to over 40 countries and lived in 6 countries before choosing to stay here. After growing up in a city of 15 million people, calling herself a “big-city-person”, she values Klagenfurt as a city that offers the best of both worlds – an abundance of nature and still, all the amenities of a big city.

„Climate change games – Dem globalen Klimawandel spielerisch begegnen“

Ingeborg-Bachmann-Gymnasium Universität Klagenfurt – Institut für Geographie und Regionalforschung, Kärnten

Der globale Klimawandel zählt zur größten Herausforderung des 21. Jahrhunderts und bedarf konkreter Maßnahmen. Um hierzu einen Beitrag zu leisten, wurde das kooperative Lernfeld-Projekt „Climate Change Games – Dem globalen Klimawandel spielerisch begegnen“ mit dem Ingeborg-Bachmann-Gymnasium und der Universität Klagenfurt ins Leben gerufen. Ziel dieses Projektes ist es, dass Schüler*innen mit fachdidaktischer Begleitung durch Lehramtsstudierende sogenannte Klimaspiele im GW-Unterricht projektartig entwickeln, um Jung und Alt spielerisch für den Klimawandel sowie Klimaschutz zu sensibilisieren.

Best paper award for work on swarmalator systems

Working together in the FWF project “Self-organizing synchronization with stochastic coupling”, Udo Schilcher, Jorge Schmidt, Arke Vogell and Christian Bettstetter co-authored the publication “Swarmalators with stochastic coupling and memory”. This paper won the Karsten Schwan Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Autonomic Computing and Self-Organising Systems (ACSOS) on 30 September 2021, a prize that recognises the best paper presented at the conference.

Conference Announcement: Human Rights Go Local

The International Centre for the Promotion of Human Rights at the Local and Regional Levels under the auspices of UNESCO and the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security at the University of Graz, Austria are hosting an academy and a conference in February, 2022.
The conference is called Human Rights Go Local “From Intentions to Commitments: Towards the Effective and Sustainable Implementation of Human Rights” and it will be held fully digitally.
