Important information about summer semester 2022

The university library will return to regular operations from the start of the summer semester 2022.

The following semester opening hours apply:

Monday – Thursday: 8:30 am – 7 pm
Friday: 8:30 am – 6 pm
Saturday: 9 am – 1 pm

Registered users can use the 24-hour library services.

The summer semester starts with the 3G rule for everyone. This means that people must be vaccinated, recovered or tested to be able to visit any university building, including the library. You can find the most recent information on this at https://www.aau.at/en/corona

To ensure that the library can remain an open space for learning and studying, visitors must observe the following hygiene rules:

The library’s mandatory mask rule is based on the regulations in force throughout the university.
Currently: FFP2 masks are mandatory in all areas of the library. This also applies while you are seated at one of the PC work stations!
Before entering the university library, please use the hand sanitiser dispenser.
During your stay, we recommend that you wash your hands regularly and thoroughly.

End of special library lending and conditions of borrowing for the reading rooms at the university library:

The surf@ubk online search engine is fully functional.

However, please note: Books held in the reading rooms (“open access collection” etc.) can NO LONGER be reserved via the search engine as of 1 March 2022, as you can once again retrieve them personally from the shelves.

End of special library lending:

The deadlines for works currently on loan to you remain valid.
Starting on 1 March 2022, the conditions for borrowing works from the open access collection (reading rooms) will change for students and external users as part of a test phase: You can borrow up to 3 works from the open access collection for 30 days (without the option to extend).
Works held elsewhere (e.g. in the closed stacks) can be borrowed as usual. The borrowing conditions for persons with extended borrowing rights also remain in place. Swarm algorithms can improve production planning and scheduling

Industrial companies face an enormous challenge when it comes to the highly interconnected nature of their production facilities. These exhibit complex and dynamic behaviour, as can be observed in ants, bees, fish or birds. Inspired by models found in nature, the SWILT project models entire industrial plants as swarms. Three years on, we now have the results of the project: The simulations revealed that the overall performance of a large production planning system can be improved by a percentage in the single digits, which can represent significant financial gains for businesses.

Karrierewege powered by Artificial Intelligence

Let´s talk about robotics, cyber security and artificial intelligence.

The panel discussion „Karrierewege“ is an exchange and networking platform for students and graduates of the University of Klagenfurt. Successful graduates talk about their career paths, their practical experiences and give students individual tips and advice for their career planning.
