CS4Ukraine – Workshop for Ukrainian Children
We are the computer science workshop at the University in Klagenfurt and offer also in summer courses for Ukrainian children. These courses are free of charge and easily accessible. We would like to make our contribution to distraction and dealing with the current situation in Ukraine which affects everyone – and especially the children.
Dates:
- Workshop A) 11.07 & 18.07.; 15:00-16:00 (GMT+2)
ONLINE workshop with the topic “Movie Making with Stop Motion” - Workshop B) 18.07.; 09:30-12:00 (GMT+2)
OFFLINE workshop with the topic “Programming the micro:bit”
All workshops are for children from 7 years on!
Registration:
Email registration to cs4ukraine [at] aau [dot] at with the following information:
- Child’s name and date of birth
- Which workshop block (A or B)?
- Contact email of the parent or guardian
Please register in English.
Languages:
The units are led by two staff members. Dina is from Kazakhstan and speaks Russian, but understands Ukrainian as well. Katharina is from Austria and speaks German and English. The third member of our team is Marharyta. She came to us from Kharkiv and helped us with the translation.

Wir sind die Informatik-Werkstatt an der Universität in Klagenfurt und bieten auch im Sommer Workshops für ukrainische Kinder an. Diese Kurse sind kostenfrei. Wir möchten damit unseren Beitrag leisten, da die aktuelle Situation in der Ukraine alle – und besonders die Kinder – trifft.

Sprachen:
Die Einheiten werden von zwei Mitarbeiter:innen geleitet. Dina ist aus Kasachstan und spricht Russisch, versteht aber Ukrainisch ebenfalls. Katharina ist aus Österreich und spricht Deutsch und Englisch. Die dritte bei uns im Bunde ist Marharyta. Sie ist aus Charkiv zu uns gekommen und hat uns bei der Übersetzung geholfen.

Our first Workshop was very successful! We had lots of fun teaching children how to make movies with the Stop Motion technique.
One highlight was the workshop at the university in Klagenfurt. We offered activities with the small Ozobot, a robot which has sensors to track colors and the ability to drive on puzzled or drawn tracks.
