Am Beispiel der Berliner Auseinandersetzungen um die Umbenennung eines kolonialrassistischen Straßennamens („M-Straße“) und der Beteiligung des Berliner Instituts für Europäische Ethnologie skizziert der Vortrag die Umrisse und Herausforderungen einer Public Anthropology, die sich aktiv intervenierend in Dekolonisierungsprozesse einmischt. Das Berliner Amo-Kollektiv, das vom Institut aus agiert, steht für eine solche Initiative des sich Einmischens und Mitgestaltens. In der Praxis des Kollektivs sind neue, durchlässigere Formen und Formate der Wissensproduktion entstanden, z.B. die öffentlichen, performativen Stadtrundgänge des „Dekolonialen Flanierens“, die wir als Format einer „kollektiven Ethnographie“ verstehen – insofern sie die Archive der Stadt gegen den Strich ihrer kolonialen Einschreibungen zu lesen und zu erfahren helfen und so Raum für ausgeschlossene und zum Schweigen gebrachte Stimmen, Körper und Geschichten schaffen. Inwiefern können solche „transakademischen“ Wissensformate und Initiativen einer Public Anthropology die Grenzen und Ausschlüsse der Stadtgesellschaft und der Universität herausfordern und verändern?
