Beschreibung
How Do you read a poem? What are the typical characteristics of American poetry and how have they developed over time? The lecture will serve as a guide to reading poetry („Prosody“), as an introduction to the distinctive features of the poetic genre („Pathos“ as well as „voice,“ „lyric,“ and other features), and will suggest ways of approaching the specifics of American poetry with particular reference to history, race, and gender.
