Transnational Migration and Solidarity Research
Profile
Interlinked challenges such as flight migration, war, climate crisis as well as social and economic inequalities require perspectives that transcend regions and nation state borders as well as disciplines. They call for an inclusive and solidarity-based orientation of educational science and education, social services, educational systems, the world of work and politics from the local to the transnational level and vice versa. The working unit deals with the question of how inclusion and solidarity can be analyzed and shaped theoretically and empirically in migration research and society. It focuses on our dense transnational interconnectedness and close dependencies with one another and thus moves beyond the scope of single states and borders. Inclusion is conceptualized as an analytical lense, a human right, and a transformational educational and interdisciplinary cross-sectional perspective. This understanding wants to overcome a dichotomous thinking in ‘us’ and ‘them’ and seeks to implement equal participation for all. It is based on the idea of a global society that shares this one planet and aims for sustainable futures, agency and an inclusive and transnational solidarity around the globe.
