Social Pedagogy and Inclusion Research
Profile
The research unit for Social Pedagogy and Inclusion Research pursues a scientific concept that understands pedagogy as a science of action, has a close theory-practice relationship and is characterized by interdisciplinary approaches.
The focus is on investigating social problems and dealing with the inclusion of people who are threatened by social exclusion in various ways. Additionally, the initiation of educational processes and the promotion of self-determined everyday life and coping processes are core areas of investigation. Addressees in the most diverse life situations, of various ages and in different institutional contexts are taken into account, focusing primarily on the orientation towards the wishes, needs, and perspectives of the respective children, young people or adults. Special attention is paid to the beneficiaries of social support systems, who face difficult experiences and constellations of social inclusion and exclusion, disabilities and impairments as well as support needs to cope with their life situations.
