A distinctive feature of our work as researchers and educators in the field of visual culture is that the “visual culture” we study and teach includes not only visual forms of popular culture (film, photography, internet, computer games, exhibitions), but also fine art (visual art, performance art). Our unit thus takes an interdisciplinary position at the intersection of art history / visual studies, film and media studies, perception research, and cultural studies.
