Headlined “Press Start: Your Journey into Game Development”, seven representatives of the games industry will meet students on Friday, 12 April 2024 in the Omansaal located in the foyer of the University of Klagenfurt. This career event is geared primarily towards students enrolled in the Master’s degree programme in Game Studies and Engineering, but is also open to anyone else who is interested.
Whenever Tom Tuček talks about the world, he invariably needs to specify: Are we talking about the real world or virtual worlds? A doctoral student at the Department of Information Technology, he is currently investigating digital humans, i.e. virtual characters such as those we encounter in video games. Tom Tuček would like to find out how contact with digital humans equipped with new artificial intelligence affects players.
“University meets Industry: Talents for Carinthia” is an event hosted by the Faculty of Technical Sciences (TEWI) and the Federation of Austrian Industries Carinthia. At the event, successful cooperation projects between university and industry will be presented. Students of technical degree programmes, employees of the Faculty, and Carinthian companies will have the opportunity to network in order to further strengthen their cooperation and lay the foundations for new partnerships. One of the top TikTok accounts among game developers in Austria is run by a small group of students and gaming enthusiasts from Carinthia, Salzburg and Styria who are preparing to launch the feel-good game “A Webbing Journey” in early 2024. The game, currently available on Steam and smartphones as a demo version, is the target of intense anticipation among TikTok users. The most popular post was viewed a total of 4.2 million times. We chatted with Sebastian Uitz and Noel Treese to find out how this success came about and what fans can look forward to at the end of the year.
