Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG and the University of Klagenfurt team up in a powerful demonstration of sustainability
This project is the latest step in a long-standing and successful partnership: Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG are cooperating with the University of Klagenfurt in the field of sustainable mobility. Starting in September 2021, the public relations team at the University of Klagenfurt has taken “green” trips to trade fairs and school visits throughout Austria and to neighbouring countries.
Universities are the driving force for the future and development of our society. For many years, the municipal utility company Stadtwerke Klagenfurt has been a companion of the University of Klagenfurt and together they are now demonstrating that sustainable mobility is set to become increasingly important in the future.
Rector Oliver Vitouch is enthusiasticwhen he reflects on the long-lasting partnership: “For many years, Stadtwerke Klagenfurt has supported the university in innovative projects. Since 2019, they have also acted as pioneering supporters of the Klagenfurt Scholarship and since then, they have already supported five outstanding students during their Master’s studies. I am thrilled about the ongoing evolution of this flourishing cooperation.”
Stadtwerke board member Erwin Smole also highlights the excellent partnership with the University of Klagenfurt: “Moving into the future electrically! We are delighted to be travelling this – clearly eco-friendly – road together and to be able to extend our many years of excellent cooperation with the university in this area.”
Energy, Climate and Environment Representative and Klagenfurt’s Deputy Mayor Alois Dolinar is excited about this flagship project: “We can only manage the capital’s city’s ambitious climate and environmental protection goals by working together. As an educator, I am especially encouraged when educational institutions get involved in projects that address climate protection. It is the only way we can improve our quality of life and that of future generations.”
