Scholarship available for students of Slovene Studies
Starting in 2023, the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Klagenfurt is pleased to introduce a scholarship for students from the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia who are pursuing a degree in Slovene Studies. Applications will be accepted until 11 April 2023.
The scholarship awarded to a student of Slovene Studies from the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia is funded with financial means provided by the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Slovenes Abroad (Urad Vlade Republike Slovenije za Slovence v zamejstvu in po svetu).
Students from the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia who are enrolled in either the Bachelor’s degree programme in Slavic Studies, the Master’s degree programme in Slavic Studies, the Master’s degree programme in Cross-Border Studies (each with a focus on Slovene) or the teacher training programme in Secondary General Education (subject Slovene) are eligible to apply.
The successful applicant is expected to make a significant contribution to the subject of the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia by writing a seminar paper, a Bachelor’s thesis or a Master’s thesis in the Slovene language.
FUNDING
The Department of Slavic Studies will award a scholarship to students of Slovene Studies who belong to the Slovene ethnic group in Carinthia. Preference will be given to students who are at an advanced stage of their studies.
AWARD
The total value of the scholarship is 2,100 euros for the year 2023 and this will be paid into the scholarship holder’s personal account in two instalments.
The student is required to submit a progress report by the end of December 2023.
APPLICATION
The application must comprise the following documents:
- letter of motivation (stating why you are applying for the scholarship and including an outline or synopsis of the seminar paper or thesis)
- curriculum vitae
- proof of student status at the University of Klagenfurt for the summer semester 2023
