Math students take on big sporting challenge

The 4 AAU mathematics students Anja Adamitsch, Anna Gradnitzer, Laurin Maier and Selina Müller proved that mathematics enthusiasts also enjoy taking on big sporting challenges.

On September 28, 2024, they took part in the ultimate “mountain run” on the Bergiselschanze as a mixed relay team — 400m steep uphill, up to 75% gradient! In competition with experienced professional athletes such as ski mountaineer Paul Verbnjak and biathlete Dominik Landertinger, the four of them in math@AAU T-shirts took on this test of strength, endurance and fighting spirit. Stamina, discipline, perseverance and the ability to work in a team not only help the four of them to progress in their mathematics studies, but also on climbing high ski jumps.
