Two kilometres of flight data: Publication of arguably the largest pool of real-world drone flight measurement data

Typically, drone flight data is generated under laboratory conditions – thus limiting its use for real-world application development. A team of researchers from Klagenfurt, working with two researchers from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has now published the first large pool of real-world measurement data. The data was generated in and around the Klagenfurt drone hall and in the context of the AMADEE20 Mars simulation in Israel.

Modelling realistic economic agents

Paolo Pellizzari and Friederike Wall are working on creating the basis for a unifying model of information-based decision-making by boundedly rational economic agents within the scope of a new research project. By means of this project, the research team aims to contribute to the continued advancement of agent-based computational economics (ACE). In doing so, the two researchers are simultaneously reinforcing the long-standing collaboration within the framework of the strategic cooperation between Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Klagenfurt.

Using robots to inspect and clean ships: Trials involving Wörtherseeschifffahrt vessels

Cleaning the hull of a container ship currently takes around eight days and costs between 100,000 and 200,000 euros. A team including researchers at the Department of Smart Systems Technologies aims to use autonomous robots for this task. Trials are currently underway on Lake Wörthersee.
