Tasks and Responsibilities:

The Quantitative Economics Division of the Department of Economics has a clear focus on high-quality research and is active in a variety of topics in economics, econometrics and quantitative economics. The research group has close cooperation with the Bank of Slovenia and the European System of Central Banks

The position is strictly in relation to conducting research as laid out in the project “GLASS – Global Augmented State Space Error Correction Model”, a research project conducted jointly at the universities of Klagenfurt and Bielefeld and co-funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) and the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Prerequisites for the appointment:

  • completed doctoral studies with excellent performance in economics (with a mathematical or quantitative focus) or a related relevant field (e.g. econometrics, mathematics, statistics or similar)
  • excellent knowledge in econometric and/or statistical theory and/or system theory

 

Additional desired qualifications:

  • first research experiences in econometrics, quantitative economics or similar fields (e.g., system theory)
  • doctoral thesis in an econometrics-related topic
  • first published research results available, preferably in the form of peer-reviewed publications (at least revise and resubmit status)
  • interest in an academic career in economics, econometrics or quantitative economics
  • interest in working in a highly productive work environment, strong performance orientation and commitment, organizational skills
  • very good knowledge of German (level C1-C2)
  • very good knowledge of English (level C1-C2)
  • good software and programming skills, e.g. Matlab, R, EViews or similar

The employment contract is concluded with a starting salary of € 3,945.90 gross per month (14 times a year).
