Carinthian Academic Championships – Padel Tennis 2024

On October 16, 2024, a premiere took place at the Padel Center Wörthersee. The first Carinthian Academic Championships in Padel Tennis were held. Under the tournament direction of Padel Tennis expert Markus PIRKER-RODRIX, the champion was determined. It was immediately noticeable that many skilled tennis players were among the participants.

This led to an unsurprising outcome. Patrick OFNER, together with his partner Rene SCHRANZER, won and were crowned Carinthian Academic Champions in Padel Tennis. Second place went to the duo STEINKELLNER/FISCHER. The pair DORREK/WOLTE had to settle for third place.

Despite the autumn weather, it was truly a great tournament! Many thanks to Markus PIRKER-RODRIX for the excellent organization, who has already announced the next tournament for May or June 2025.

Until then, all the best!

UAM Mixed Volleyball 2024

As in previous years around All Saints’ Day, the Unisport Austria Mixed Volleyball Championships took place again this year in Innsbruck. The University of Klagenfurt’s team consisted of players from both the national league and regional league. The preliminary round was played on the first day in two groups of four teams. The University of Klagenfurt faced teams from Linz, Innsbruck 2, and Innsbruck 3 in the group stage. After three losses in the third set, despite match points, our team had to compete against the first-place team from the other group—University of Innsbruck 1—on the second day. Unfortunately, this match was also lost in the third set.

This placed the University of Klagenfurt team in the playoff for positions 5 to 8. In the first lower playoff match, the team secured a win against Salzburg. They also triumphed in the final match against the University of Graz, finishing in a respectable 5th place. While luck wasn’t entirely on our side on the first day, perhaps a bit more might have been possible with better fortune.

In the final, University of Innsbruck 1 won a thrilling match against JKU Linz in three sets. Congratulations to the University of Innsbruck!

A big thank you to Gernot HUPFAUF and his team for their excellent organization.

See you next year!
