    Treasures from the library: Opening of the 31st exhibition Heroes and Saints. German texts in binding fragments of Latin monastic manuscripts. New finds – new insights with a lecture by Ulrich Seelbach, Birgit Müllner-Stieger, Bozena Schrenk und Christian Frühwirth (held in german)

Book a Smart Box

New learning & working spaces at the University Library

 

Thanks to the great initiative of CULT (Centre for University Learning & Teaching), we were able to greatly expand our range of bookable workspaces in the summer:

In addition to our two groupwork rooms for larger teams, our users can now also book 4 Smart Boxes for concentrated work in small groups or alone, for focussed reading and work, for online meetings and much more, or use them freely if available.

 

 

Your options for focused working – alone or in groups:

Groupwork room 1 
Level 3: Central building (Z.3.04a, max. 12 people)
Extended equipment: projector, work PC

Groupwork room 2 
Level 2: EDZ (Z.2.11b, max. 15 people; central building)
Extended equipment: projector

Smart Box 1  + 2 
Level 3: Central building, west side (1-2 people)
Extended equipment: whiteboard*, ventilation

Smart Box 3 
Level 3: East-facing central building (1-4 people, barrier-free)
Extended equipment: whiteboard*, ventilation

Smart Box 4 
Level 2: Unruhezone | non-rest area (1-4 people)
Extended equipment: whiteboard*, ventilation

 

*Whiteboard markers can be borrowed at the information desk.

 

Please note

  • The group groupwork rooms & the Smart Boxes are only accessible via the main entrance of the library.
  • Our Smart Boxes have transparent glass fronts.
  • Book our rooms and boxes online (online-bookingor use them spontaneously according to availability.

Long Night of Research | U12

How much non:rest does a library need?

We’ll be exploring this question for a whole night at our U12 station!

Embark on a journey through the university library. Exciting hands-on stations await you in our non-rest area: Try your hand at making paper, painting initials, crafting and drawing with a 3D pen. Visit our Karl Popper archive and marvel at the oldest and most valuable treasures in our treasure chamber. A large book flea market also awaits you.

Level 1: Infopoint (stamp pass, gifts, information material and much more)

Level 2:

– Paper drawing
– Painting with a 3D pen
– Handicrafts (bookmarks, buttons and much more)
– Our oldest object

Book flea market

For the Long Night of Research 2024, the UBK is once again organizing its big book flea market!

On Thursday, 23.5. and Friday, 24.5. from 9.00 – 17.00 you can browse, rummage and buy again – at kilo prices:

1/2 kilo of books for 1 euro!

As always, the flea market is located in the assembly hall in front of the library entrance.

On Thursday, mainly textbooks and academic literature will be on sale, followed on Friday by fiction, children’s/young adult literature, illustrated books and general specialist literature.

 

There is something for everyone – guaranteed!

We are happy when our books find a new home!
