Journey:
If you arrive by car …
- Coming from the “Südautobahn” A2 (south highway A2) take the exit “Minimundus” (Klagenfurt West). At the second crossroads turn left into Universitätsstraße.
- Coming from the city center take the Villacher Straße until the car dealer “Porsche”, then turn left into Neckheimgasse. At the end of the street turn right into Universitätsstraße.
Please note that there are parking fees :
- € 0.50 for each 1/2 hour or part thereof
- € 7.00 for a day ticket
- There is also a month pass available at the porter’s lodge, respectively at the cash desk. The cost is € 13.00.

Carinthian Airport is approximately 4 km away from Klagenfurt city center and about 8 km from the university. There is a bus connection (line #42) from the airport to the city center – “Heiligengeistplatz” where you change to bus line #81. By bus it takes about one hour to get from the airport to the university; the bus ticket costs € 2.10. Should you arrive late in the evening, we recommended to take a taxi; the journey to the university costs around € 20.00 and takes about 20 minutes.
ÖBB – Austrian Railways
Coming from Vienna: There is a direct bus service from Vienna airport to the train station “Meidling”. It costs € 7.00 and runs every 2 hours between 7:40 am and 6:40 pm (the journey takes about 30 minutes). A direct train to Klagenfurt leaves every 2 hours (8:30, 10:30 …). The price for a one-way ticket is approximately € 51.00 per person (2nd class).

Train station Klagenfurt: From Klagenfurt central station to the university take bus line #81. Please leave the bus at bus stop “Universität”. A taxi from the central train station to the university should not cost more than € 15.00.

From the central station and the city center the university can be reached using bus line #81.
