Double Degree Information and Communications Engineering Tashkent

GENERAL INFORMATION

There is a double degree agreement (DD) between the University of Klagenfurt and the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (TUIT). The programme is taken as part of the Master’s programme. The agreement relates to the degree programmes “Information and Communications Engineering (ICE)” at the University of Klagenfurt and “Intelligent Information and Communications Systems”, “Telecommunication Engineering”, “Mobile Communication Systems”, “Computer Engineering” or “Devices and Systems of Television, Radio Communication and Broadcasting” at the TUIT in Tashkent/Uzbekistan.

Specifics

Certificate received upon completion: The Master’s degree is acknowledged in both countries, whereby the graduates can choose whether they want to receive the Austrian or Uzbek title: “Diplom-Ingenieur” or “Diplom-Ingenieurin” in Austria, or “Magistr” in Uzbekistan.
Exemption from tuition fees: No tuition fees apply during the period of study abroad at the partner university. The student union fee (ÖH fee), on the other hand, must still be paid during the semester or academic year abroad.
Furthermore, the agreement is intended to promote the international networking and further development of the individual and the cross-border career opportunities available to them as computer scientists.

APPLICATION CRITERIA

Students must fulfil the following criteria to be admitted to the DD programme:

Successful completion of the Bachelor’s degree
English in written and verbal form
The candidate should liaise with the programme coordinator (see contact) approximately 1 year prior to the start of their period abroad. In this discussion, the details (especially the recognised examinations) shall be clarified to ensure the programme runs smoothly.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION

In order to ensure that the DD programme is completed successfully, all students must comply with the following points:

Attend the Master’s programme “Information and Communications Engineering (ICE)” at the University of Klagenfurt
A minimum of 30 ECTS credit points must be taken from the Master’s programme at the host university.
Successful completion of the Master’s dissertation and the final examination

AWARDING COURSE CREDITS AT THE TUIT IN TASHKENT/USBEKISTAN

During the course of the period abroad at the TUIT in Tashkent/Uzbekistan, courses equivalent to 30 ECTS credit points must be completed. The courses eligible for recognition can be selected from the required subject area, the specialisation subjects and/or instead of the practice/project semester to an equivalent ECTS extent. GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A MASTER’S THESIS

In order to write a successful Master’s thesis, the following points should be followed:

The Master’s thesis must be written in English.
The candidates in the programme must choose a primary supervisor from one of the two institutions and a secondary supervisor from the other institution.
The work must be presented at both universities.
The work must be submitted at the student’s home university, where it will also be assessed. The final oral examination is also to take place at the student’s home university.
