Vice-Rector for Transfer, Cooperation & Continuing Education

Peter Schlögl took up the post of Professor of Adult and Continuing Education at the Department of Educational Science in October 2017, and is part of the research unit Adult Learning and Education and Vocational Education and Training.

Peter Schlögl (*1967) studied Philosophy at the University of Vienna, where he obtained his doctorate in 2013 with a thesis on the aestheticisation of the subject through lifelong learning. He initially worked as an educational assistant at the Berufsförderungsinstitut Österreich (Austrian Vocational Training Institute), then served as a specialist in continuing education policy at the Vienna Chamber of Labour until 1998. Peter Schlögl has held various positions at the Austrian Institute for Research on Vocational Training since 1998: first as managing director of the institute from 1999, and then as its scientific director from 2018. Peter Schlögl was a board member of the Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation Austria (AQ Austria) and a member of the University of Applied Sciences Council. In 2023, Schlögl was elected spokesperson for AUCEN, a network for university continuing education and human resources development at Austrian universities. Since September 2024, he has chaired the Austrian Society for Research on Education (ÖFEB).

Peter Schlögl’s research and teaching interests include educational theory and philosophy, competence and learning outcome orientation, adult and vocational education policies, and educational and career guidance.

Peter Schlögl took up the post of Vice-Rector for Transfer, Cooperation and Continuing Education in December 2024.
