a. Non-compliance with the Web Accessibility Act

There are occasional deficiencies in contrast. Therefore, the website does not fully comply with the requirements of WCAG 1.4.3. Contrast (Minimum).

b. Disproportionate burden

For videos provided by the University of Klagenfurt and published on this website or on the video platform YouTube before 23 September 2020, no audio descriptions can be made available. For future, relevant videos (from 23 September 2020) we will endeavour to include the audio description according to WCAG.

c. The content is outside the scope of the applicable legislation

For content from third parties of this kind, we cannot make any statements about its compatibility with the provisions on accessibility.

Many predominantly older PDF and Office files are not accessible. For example, PDF files are not tagged, so they cannot be (or are insufficiently) identified and used by screen reader users. The WCAG success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) is thus not complied with.We aim to make PDF documents, which are required for ongoing administrative procedures, fully accessible as part of our ongoing updates. No wide-ranging changes are planned for older non-accessible documents which are still excepted from the Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

Enforcement procedure

If you are not satisfied with the answers you receive from the contact given above, you can complain to the Österreichische Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft (FFG) (Austrian Agency for the Promotion of Research). The FFG accepts complaints sent via its website.

Complaints are examined by the FFG to establish whether they refer to infringements against the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, and particularly to deficits in adherence to the requirement for accessibility.

If the complaint is justified, the FFG has to issue recommendations for action and propose measures which would contribute towards eliminating the existing deficiencies.

The website www.aau.at was last subjected to a comprehensive technical overhaul in October 2015.

The University of Klagenfurt is committed to ensuring that its Internet content is as accessible and user-friendly as possible. In the interest of quality assurance, it therefore pursues a change management concept for all its digital offerings. Please bear in mind that proposed changes cannot always be implemented immediately, as structural changes must first complete this process.

The University of Klagenfurt is organised into many organisational units, centres and departments, which are typically responsible for moderating the content of their subsites. The content is created and edited by both internal and external authors. The University of Klagenfurt makes every effort to provide standardised guidelines for the creation of content that is as accessible as possible, and to train the authors accordingly.
