We are delighted to welcome you to our university as a new member of staff or international guest! It is our pleasure to serve as your competent guide as you take up your professional duties here or during your time as visiting researcher or visiting lecturer at the University of Klagenfurt.
The decision to relocate for professional reasons or to spend time in another country is often associated with certain challenges that may stand in the way of a smooth transition to starting work at the university. By providing tailored assistance on various topics that are essential for getting started at the University of Klagenfurt, we aim to ensure that you receive the best possible support in relation to planning and implementing your new career stage, your time in Klagenfurt, and settling into your new university and domestic environment.
Guidance & Information
We will be happy to provide you with all the knowledge you might find helpful when navigating your way around campus and for life in the university city of Klagenfurt. This also includes information on entry requirements and residence formalities, on accommodation and on life in Carinthia, as well as information on the University of Klagenfurt as a young, lively and innovative educational and research institution.

Dual Career Service
Are you due to take up a position at the University of Klagenfurt? Is your partner also seeking a position in Klagenfurt and the surrounding area in line with her/his qualifications?
Then you have come to the right place. We promote the reconciliation of the spheres of career, family and mobility by supporting partners of new university members in their search for a suitable job.
Since 2018 we have also been working closely with the Dual Career Service Centres established at the five Styrian universities. Membership in the Dual Career Service Styria-Carinthia opens up exciting career opportunities for your partner, even beyond the Carinthian borders (www.dualcareer-styria-carinthia.at)
Guidance & Service
Additional guidance and support services (e.g. concerning childcare arrangements, questions regarding entry and residence regulations, accommodation, etc.) are co-ordinated by the university’s Welcome Service in co-operation with the central facilities (Family Services, Personnel Department etc.) and the academic departments.
The main activities of the Dual Career Service are advice and support with regard to the partner’s career. We do our best, but we cannot guarantee a job.
