The Rectorate

The Rectorate leads the university and creates its strategic guidelines. These strategic guidelines are laid down in the development plan, the performance agreements with the Federal Government and the agreed targets developed with the faculties/centres and the administrative organisational units. The Rectorate is made up of the Rector and the three vice-rectors. The Rectorate is supported by the Office of the Rectorate.
The University Council
Along with the Rectorate and the Senate, the University Council is one of the three governing bodies of the University of Klagenfurt. It is made up of seven members, who are in office for a term of five years. An equal number of members are appointed by the university and by the Federal Government, and together they select the seventh member. In performing its duties, the University Council functions as an interface for both the public authorities and the university. The current term of office runs from March 2023 to February 2028. The University Council is supported by the Office of the University Council.

The Senate
The Senate is, along with the Rectorate and the University Council, one of the university’s three governing bodies. At the University of Klagenfurt the Senate is made up of 26 members. The Senate is supported by the Office of the Senate.
The current term of office runs from 01.10.2022 to 30.09.2025.
