University of Klagenfurt’s departments and faculty centres
The University of Klagenfurt is divided into four faculties, 33 departments and a number of different centres that offer teaching and engage in research. The university’s average size ensures that the administration of the university is unbureaucratic and service-oriented.
There are also six university centres at the University of Klagenfurt that are non-faculty organisational units.
Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Education
The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education (founded 1993) has a well-established global presence and network. The department covers a varied spectrum of core humanities subjects.

Faculty of Social Sciences
The Faculty of Social Sciences was set up in 2023. At the faculty, researchers in four different departments and centres investigate a variety of societal issues and teach in interdisciplinary contexts.
Faculty of Technical Sciences
The Faculty of Technical Sciences has been in existence since 2007. Staff-student ratios across the faculty’s nine departments are excellent, and the practice-oriented research and pure research conducted by the faculty complement one another.
