Lecturer in Energy, University of Edinburgh

University of Edinburgh is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Energy & Social Science. We seek to recruit an outstanding candidate with an excellent, international research profile to join the Geography and the Lived Environment Research Institute and complement our existing expertise on the social and societal aspects of energy transitions. We are looking for an outgoing and collegiate candidate to further bolster the School of Geosciences’ reputation as a key contributor to energy related research and knowledge exchange across campus, the city of Edinburgh, Scotland and the UK. This post provides the candidate with opportunities to participate in a vibrant and growing research community (the cross-college Energy & Society Research Group), pursue knowledge exchange activities through the award-winning Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation, collaborate on large-scale projects (e.g. the UoE Zero-Carbon Climate Plan; Edinburgh/SE Scotland City Region Deal; Research Councils UK’s Energy Programme and Global Challenges Research Fund) and develop a research-informed teaching portfolio (e.g. on our MA in Human Geography and our new MSc in Energy, Society and Sustainability).

 

We are looking for a candidate with a proven ability to work across disciplinary boundaries and with stakeholders from government, industry and/or civil society.

 

Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, have teaching experience and a publication record commensurate with career stage.
