Martina Merz becomes Vize-Rector for Research

We are pleased to announce that Martina Merz will assume the position of Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Klagenfurt for four years as of October 29, 2020. She remains head of our department. For more information on the new Recorate (in German) click here.

Matthias Karmasin mit dem österreichischen Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst 1. Klasse ausgezeichnet

Mit Entschließung des Bundespräsidenten Alexander van der Bellen wurde auf Antrag des Bundesministers für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Forschung Heinz Faßmann das österreichische Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst 1. Klasse an Matthias Karmasin verliehen. Überreicht wurde die Auszeichnung  im Spiegelsaal der Kärntner Landesregierung am 27. Oktober 2020 durch Landeshauptmann Peter Kaiser.

The department welcomes Daria Jadreškić as Postdoctoral researcher!

Daria Jadreškić is a philosopher of science with a focus on social epistemology, values in science, and philosophy of science in practice. Since October 2020 she is a member of the Research Unit “The Epistemology of the Large Hadron Collider”, project B3, “Producing novelty and securing credibility: LHC experiments from the perspective of Social Studies of Science”. In the course of the project she will conduct empirical and conceptual research into discovery practices in high energy physics. Before coming to Klagenfurt, she was affiliated with Leibniz University Hannover, where she earned her PhD.
